China’s Urbanization and Resulting Improvement of People’s Well-Being

Abstract:  Urbanization is a result of the improvement in the well-being of the Chinese people. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, China’s urbanization went through a winding journey in its initiation, stagnation, exploration and development. Today, China’s rate of urbanization continues to accelerate. Urbanization has received extensive attention as a driver of China’s economic and social development. Through the process of urbanization, China’s efforts to improve the well-being of its people have met unprecedented opportunities and challenges. Exploring new paths to improving the well-being of the nation’s people have become important priorities for Chinese policymakers.
